Stella Maris Auspice Maria Sticker

The Auspice Maria - an intertwined A and M - is a classic Marian symbol. The phrase comes from Latin and means "under the protection" or "under the support or patronage" of Mary. Furthermore, this symbol is on countless works of art and reminds us that Our Lady is always watching over us.

With this classic symbol as inspiration, I took many titles and apparitions of Our Lady to prayer. From that prayer and reflection came the entire Auspice Maria sticker series.

This sticker in particular celebrates Mary's title as Star of the Sea, or Stella Maris. Above the Auspice Maria symbol are twelve stars which denote her role as STAR (Stella) of the Sea. Fittingly, in the letter M one can see the waves of the sea. In the letter A one notices a night sky, a reminder that Our Lady watches over us day and night, in calm or storm.
